Early Childhood Ministry Coordinator — Part-Time

Bonita Valley Community Church is seeking a compassionate, organized, and ministry-minded individual to serve as our part-time Early Childhood Ministry Coordinator.

Position Overview

• Part-time position
• Serves children from birth through kindergarten
• Reports to the Pastor of Children’s Ministries
• Requires Sunday and occasional weekday/evening availability

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinate early childhood classrooms for Sunday services, midweek childcare, and ministry events.
• Prepare and organize biblically sound, age-appropriate curriculum, crafts, and classroom materials.
• Recruit, train, schedule, encourage, and support volunteers.
• Oversee classroom readiness, staffing, attendance, supplies, safety, and ministry flow.
• Coordinate childcare for church ministries, meetings, classes, and special events.
• Maintain child check-in/check-out procedures and follow all child-safety policies.
• Create inclusive environments for children with diverse developmental, behavioral, and sensory needs.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with families, volunteers, guests, and staff.
• Maintain ministry records, procedures, curriculum files, and administrative systems.
• Assist with volunteer training, seasonal events, Vacation Bible School, and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience working with infants through kindergarten-age children
• A growing relationship with Jesus and a heart for children and families
• Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
• Understanding of early childhood development and classroom management
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with initiative, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Volunteer leadership or coordination experience preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Planning Center, or similar technology preferred
• Ability to complete required background screening and child-safety training
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain
